My styling secret... a footed pedestal

Have you ever found that your decor items on a table or bathroom are looking completely lost? And you are not sure how to style them? Well here is a design secret I want to share with you - a footed pedestal can elevate your styling completely!

I particularly love wooden pedestals and I have the added bonus of having a furniture maker for a husband, he can easily make these for me in no time. In fact, all the pedestals used in this blog was created by my husband Mike, www.bibbyfinefurniture.com. Wooden pedestals can be a stylish and versatile addition to your home - they can serve both decorative and functional purposes, allowing you to showcase items in a nice group setting.

Kitchen

Place a wooden pedestal on a countertop or kitchen island to display vases, decorative bowls, or other cherished items. This adds a touch of elegance and personalization to your kitchen. Place a wooden pedestal near your cooking area to create extra counter space for prep work. This is especially useful if you have a compact kitchen with limited counter space. Wooden pedestals can provide a stylish platform for potted plants or a small indoor herb garden. This brings a natural and fresh element to your home.

Cohesion

Ensure that the choice of wood and style of the pedestal complements your design and color scheme for a harmonious look. Remember that the key to using wooden pedestals effectively in your kitchen decor is to balance aesthetics with functionality. Whether you're showcasing items or adding practical elements, wooden pedestals can be a versatile and eye-catching addition to your home.

Here are my top tips:

  • Create groups of 3 or 5, odd numbers are great

  • Add some interest with different textures and finishes

  • Add some greenery and mix fresh and dried plants

  • A footed pedestal or tray adds some visual interest
